365 days to go! Its going to be a fun day, we hope everybody gets to join us and enjoy it!

Wedding season has begun this year, next year it will finally be our turn! We have the big things covered I think. A to Z Music will be our DJ and Linda Rump will make our cake. Flowers and Gift of Love will handle the flowers and Adam and his lovely fiance will sing at the wedding! All but one of my bridesmaids got to come down and try on dresses at Fabulous Bridal Boutique to pick out the style they liked best. We definitely found a perfect dress for each of them! I have a 5 day vacation at the end of December or beginning of January so another cluster of things will get done then. Can’t wait!

I’m not sure how Nick found this, but for some reason Weddingchannel.com has us registered at JCPenny’s.  (even though the date and location is wrong on the site, and the list only consists of varied amounts in giftcards)  Now I admit to having a hard time waiting for some of the steps a couple takes when wedding planning, but I have been able to restrain myself and not open registries two years early!  If for some reason one of you happens to stumble across that, don’t do anything with it–we don’t know where it came from!

The search for “THE dress” is over!  I went back to Fabulous Bridal, after looking at some other places, for a trunk show with my favorite Wedding Gown designer.  They are right when they say you’ll just know–I finally did!  The whole experience there was awesome and my consultant Angelia was wonderful.  I’d recommend them to anyone!  We went back there this week and looked at bridesmaids dresses too.  I decided on the color and styles and can’t wait to see it all put together…months from now.  What a relief it is to have those decisions made before school starts back up again.  Covington is way too far from West Lafayette to make those trips during school.  On another note, our engagement pictures turned out well and he got them back to us quickly.  I think he impressed both of us!  Photography for wedding–check!

In anticipation of the coming engagement photos, I just installed a new Plugin to allow us to have a much cooler Photos page. In the meantime you can head to the Photos page and see an example!

The planning is starting to pick back up again!  We are finally getting our engagement pictures taken.  At the end of July, Anthony Mosley Photography will be here on my family’s farm to take them!  Just cross your fingers that the weather holds out that day.  I know, we probably shouldn’t have planned on doing them in July…but I’m after a sunset picture in the soybean field.    I have seen some of his work on his website and love how creative and different his shots are so I’m looking forward to seeing what he comes up with for us!

In other areas of planning, my mom, Fawn (my matron of honor), and I are going wedding dress shopping on the 1st!  I haven’t even walked past a boutique yet so this will be an eye-opening experience I’m sure.  I’ve heard good things about Fabulous Bridal in Covington so we are starting there.  Then on the 1st of August the three of us, my Aunt Lisa, and cousin Ashley (a bridesmaid) are cake tasting at the BonBonerie in KY.  Gonna be a fun summer!

While slightly late, I wanted to let anybody following along know, Kelly and I celebrated our 5th anniversary earlier this month (April 9th, to be exact).  On our wedding day we will have been together 7 years, 2 months, and 2 days.

Wedding-related things are still in a holding pattern / planning stage, we’re hoping to get engagement pictures done this summer at Kelly’s parents’ farm.  Right now I’m gearing up for a big trip to Vegas next week for a conference, Kelly’s gearing up for more exams.  We’re both excited about this summer, one of her friends is getting married in Chicago in May, and one of my old roommates is getting married in June in San Francisco.  So its going to be a fun and busy summer.

We went today and looked at Kelly’s wedding band, which was recently finished. I thought that the occasion might merit a post about the rings, for those who haven’t gotten to see them yet, or for those more curious. I have tried several times to capture good pictures of the engagement ring, both on her finger and off, but none of them remotely do it justice. …Is good news. Classes and work have ground planning to a halt for Kelly and myself. We’re still plotting and scheming when we get the odd minute, but there have been few “plans” set forth since we locked down the reception hall in August. I was hoping the site would be bubbling with information by now, but it seems that other things keep taking priority. In the near future I hope to have Maps sorted out, my goal is some sort of automated system for us to generate customized maps from people’s mailing addresses to the church and reception hall to include in each invitation. We’ll see how that actually works out but i figure it’ll make for a good exercise of my programming “skillz”. Anyway, take heed in our absence of news that everything is ok and things are still chugging along. As plans are made and rolled out we’ll announce here as we see fit

We have chosen the Dearborn Country Club as the location for our reception! It was our best choice by far in terms of providing what we wanted so that our guests can enjoy the evening as much as we will! More information about the location, lodging, etc., will be provided in the Directions & Help page as I get around to putting it in.

This also means that our date has been confirmed; 06-11-11 will be a day to remember!
