Let the RSVP madness begin…

Invitations have been mailed, and people are already RSVP’d. I’m happy to see that things appear to be working fine for most people. For those playing the home game, the pie chart on the right represents the total number of invites sent out, the growing pink slice is the number of RSVP’s we have received.

I added some warnings for people running older browsers, specifically older versions of Internet Explorer. If you’re using Windows and have high speed internet, I implore you to turn on Microsoft Update and follow the directions there. It could run all night, and it may take multiple runnings of this, and multiple computer reboots, but run it over and over again until it tells you that you are up to date. If that seems too daunting, at least go here and download IE 9.

This is not only so you can fully enjoy this website, but also the internet at large, while remaining safe (older browsers are partially to blame for phishing attacks and leave you somewhat vulnerable to virus attacks and trojans). This public service announcement brought to you by your local geek.

We’re under a month-and-a-half now until June 11. Everything seems to be on track!

Hotel Rooms

We have a block of rooms reserved at the Comfort Inn in Lawerenceburg Indiana. If you call and ask for a room and request to be in the Vogel/Peelman party, it should be at least a few bucks off the standard rate. There should be 10 King sized rooms and 20 double-Queen rooms available. Smoking rooms are also available. We also have 15 rooms blocked for Friday night, for those who will be coming in a day early. The block discount is guaranteed until May 10, 2011.

All rooms have free WiFi, a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, hair dryer, ironing board, and iron. There is a continental breakfast, heated indoor pool, and a fitness center as well. Travel, Directions, Hotels, and Gifts

The travel page has been updated with the most recent information. I’m still working on touching base with the hotel to get our block of rooms reserved, once we do I’ll post the pertinent details there. From what I’ve been told, our limo has been booked, and along with it a shuttle van to run between the reception and the hotel.

There is also a link on the travel page to a directions page I wrote up. There you’ll be able to crank out quick directions for the wedding, hotel, reception, airports, etc. Once you get your invitation and have your RSVP Code, you’ll be able to get custom directions from your house as well.

We’ve also posted the gift registries, for those who are interested. As Kelly pointed out in her last post, there are several things we wanted to add but couldn’t really do until we figure out a housing situation, so that list is still in flex. Right now we’re at 2.5 months. Stuff is starting to get real!

Three months

Three months left and we are finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. And realizing, as one of my vet school professors would say, that it’s the train! Lots of things up in the air and the wedding is about the only thing we can plan for right now so that is exactly what we are doing. This weekend we scoured Kohl’s, JCPenny’s, and Macy’s here in West Lafayette and finally put everything together and registered. This thing continues to be a work in progress since we don’t know where we are living and what the house/apt will allow. I have an interview in Seymour in a few weeks and possibly another opportunity elsewhere so hopefully by the end of April/beginning of May we will know for sure! One important thing regarding the registries, almost everything on there is from us scanning in-store items. Once we looked at the list online, it said some items were on backorder even though we just came from the store which had plenty. So keep that in mind.

It’s 2011!!

2011 is finally here! We have made real progress on the wedding planning. The wedding party has been chosen, favors bought, dresses ordered, and tuxes picked out. We have rented a condo in Maui for the honeymoon and are buying plane tickets this week! (apparently Wednesdays are the best days to buy??)

On a side note, I have completed Step 1 of 3 in my seemingly never-ending quest of that DVM degree! The National Boards: PASS! Now all I have to do is complete my graduation requirements and file for an Indiana license! That requires an exam too but nothing major. Soon, the resumes will be sent and I’ll start interviewing for jobs. Cross your fingers for a great fit somewhere in southern Indiana!

RSVP and Hotels…

Digital RSVP is a go!

After a few hours of hardcore nerd action yesterday, our digital RSVP system is up and running. Inside of each invitation will be a card, label, etc. with a unique code word on it. When combined with the recipient’s last name, they will be able to visit this website, “login,” and RSVP for the wedding and reception.

Hotels

For those traveling from out of town to enjoy the day’s festivities, we will be asking when you RSVP if you require a hotel room or not. Hopefully using those numbers we’ll be able to book enough rooms.

Wedding season has begun this year, next year it will finally be our turn! We have the big things covered I think. A to Z Music will be our DJ and Linda Rump will make our cake. Flowers and Gift of Love will handle the flowers and Adam and his lovely fiance will sing at the wedding! All but one of my bridesmaids got to come down and try on dresses at Fabulous Bridal Boutique to pick out the style they liked best. We definitely found a perfect dress for each of them! I have a 5 day vacation at the end of December or beginning of January so another cluster of things will get done then. Can’t wait!

I’m not sure how Nick found this, but for some reason Weddingchannel.com has us registered at JCPenny’s. (even though the date and location is wrong on the site, and the list only consists of varied amounts in giftcards) Now I admit to having a hard time waiting for some of the steps a couple takes when wedding planning, but I have been able to restrain myself and not open registries two years early! If for some reason one of you happens to stumble across that, don’t do anything with it–we don’t know where it came from!

Dresses!

The search for “THE dress” is over! I went back to Fabulous Bridal, after looking at some other places, for a trunk show with my favorite Wedding Gown designer. They are right when they say you’ll just know–I finally did! The whole experience there was awesome and my consultant Angelia was wonderful. I’d recommend them to anyone! We went back there this week and looked at bridesmaids dresses too. I decided on the color and styles and can’t wait to see it all put together…months from now. What a relief it is to have those decisions made before school starts back up again. Covington is way too far from West Lafayette to make those trips during school. On another note, our engagement pictures turned out well and he got them back to us quickly. I think he impressed both of us! Photography for wedding–check!
